PhDr. Viola Somogyi
I was born in 1964 in Prague, Czech Republic, and grew up in a bilingual Czech-Hungarian family;
later, I moved to Scandinavia, where I spend several years in Sweden and Denmark. I studied
English and Czech at Charles University in Prague, where I also defended my advanced master’s thesis.
I have worked as a translator and editor ever since, focusing mainly on children’s literature. In 2014,
I became My clients include a number of prestigious Czech publishing houses, including: Argo, Mladá fronta, Albatros, Triton, One Woman Press, Motto, Grada, and several others. I have translated over 80 books from English, German, and the Nordic languages into Czech. When not working, I like to cook, hike, and paint oil paintings. |
